Birds of a Feather, 2023
Cooke-Sasseville and MC Grou (Quebec)

Three oversized birds seem disconcerted by a giant can. Fans of Passages Insolites will recognize The Odyssey / L’Odyssée, by duo Cooke-Sasseville from the very first edition ten years ago. The emblematic work has been completely repainted by muralist MC Grou and endowed with new significance. MC Grou’s virtuosic stencilling technique will also be on display at the PASSAGE MURAL program at the Îlot Fleuri underpass, opening August 12.
Jean-François Cooke and Pierre Sasseville have been working together since 2000 as Cooke-Sasseville. Their work delights in paradox, confronting us with situations that destabilize by both their ambivalence and astonishing lucidity. The duo has taken part in national and international exhibitions and created many monumental public artworks, including La Rencontre at Place Jean Béliveau (Videotron Centre).
