Double interlaced concentric circles, 2023
Felice Varini (Switzerland/France)

Unsatisfied with the flatness and restricted framework of the traditional canvas, Felice Varini has turned to architectural installation and the urban landscape as a three-dimensional setting for his large-scale, monochromatic geometric compositions. In his work, the spectator enters the painting and wanders around observing deconstructed fragments, until a specific viewpoint resolves the optical enigma, providing a coherent view of the overall form.
Felice Varini creates large-scale site-specific anamorphic paintings for historical monuments, remarkable urban sites, and museums around the world. He has produced public installations at such notable French landmarks as Cité de Carcassonne, the Orangerie at the Château de Versailles, and Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille.
