Space Cube, 2017
Marie-Eve Martel (Blainville)
Associated with mysticism and the mathematical world, the cube has a fascinating and mysterious character. This work of art invites us to discover a hidden world, halfway between the organic and the geometric. From the magic eye, a hybrid city partially integrates the exterior, while multiplying its own reflections in confusing perspectives.
This art installation was initially created for the public art circuit Passages Insolites, designed by EXMURO arts publics and presented by Québec City. This project was made possible through the financial support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
Marie-Eve Martel is interested in the plasticity of the landscape, in our way of inhabiting space and, above all, in the impact of architecture on the imaginary and on human behaviour. The iconic places she transforms and reworks in drawing, painting, engraving and sculpture take on a mythical aura. Her works are included in the collections of Ville de Montréal, Loto-Québec and the Yukon government.
